port-sparc is about running NetBSD on sparc hardware, mainly (it extends
to NetBSD-associated or -adjacent hardware struggles).

That was an offlist hint that yes sending diffs to the list is
appropriate.

When you post, it would be good to describe solaris 2.9 in terms of
release date, EOL date and how it relates to current solaris. Also how
bootstrap/README.Solaris is or is not correct.

While supporting more systems is good, there's always a question lurking
of how many ifdefs/etc. are ok to support really ancient things, vs
impact on maintainability, and a related strategy of how to accomodate a
platform with minimal impact. So the right forum is pkgsrc-wide, as the
question of what to merge is not just of interest to people using
solaris.
