Hi!
As some of you know I've been working on a new build tool that is
designed to provide an alternative to pkg_chk/pkgrr/pbulk for most
situations.
this is great news - thanks a lot for sharing this.
Looks like the days are finally over where NetBSD users had to look
enviously at poudriere (FreeBSD) or dsynth (DragonFly) when it comes to
a fast, well-designed, and easy-to-configure package builder. bob
definitely feels like it has real game-changer potential. And a great
name - Bob the Builder ;-)
I also just tried it out on a freshly installed NetBSD 10.1 system, and
honestly: it took less than 10 minutes to get everything up and running.
Installed git and rust via pkgin, then the rest was simply cargo install
and a git clone — no friction, no surprises.
Fantastic experience overall. This is exactly the kind of tooling that
makes NetBSD feel modern and productive while still staying true to its
principles.
Really impressive work - looking forward to using this more and
providing further feedback.
Kind regards
Matthias
