Problems with BerkeleyDB (as used by postgrey) with latest perl

Just finishing updating an AMD64 system on NetBSD 10.1_STABLE with
pkgsrc_2025Q3.

Configuring up postgrey with the production config I now get a couple
of error messages released to the underlying p5-BerkeleyDB.

These don't appear with older versions of perl (5.38.2 or 5.40.2) but
are triggered by 5.42.0

The version of p5-BerkeleyDB is unchanged at 0.65 so I guess this must
be a perl problem, maybe due to them tightening stuff.

[running /etc/rc.d/postgrey]
Starting postgrey.
Possible precedence problem between ! and string eq at

There is some discussion on the web, but I haven't seen a fix yet.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Dave
