It's weird how people get used to some pieces of software and not to others - in my case I never got used to iTunes interface, on any platform, even if otherwise I am an iPhone/iPad user...

On NetBSD I have used in the past several of the well-known players with similar capabilities (no idea if playlist transfers are easy to do or even possible). I've always returned to audio/moc though - hard to find something simpler and you can run it without any graphics if need be. Right now I am not running any NetBSD system on bare metal (too new chipsets, no drivers, the usual reasons), but, following this question, I added a spice driver to one of my NetBSD ProxMox guests and, after a reboot, it worked with no issues whatsoever, using the latest moc player. Not particularly interesting, but it's nice to know. No delays even over my slow powerline connection to the server upstairs...
