Re: gimp 3.0

"graphics/sane-frontends" and "graphics/xsane" claim to require

  gimp>=2.10.38nb12<2.99

as they can be used as an image-acquisition plug-in inside 'gimp'.

Is this capability retained with Gimp 3? If so, has anyone tried building
"sane-frontends" and/or "xsane" with Gimp 3 ("gimp-devel")? Did it work
properly? Have the sane/xsane projects produced a new release compatible
with Gimp 3 (if the plug-in capability still exists)?

If not, then "sane-frontends" should have the "gimp" option disabled
by default when the switch is made. Probably also update comments that
it is only for use with "gimp2".

Via "sane-project.org", it looks like no new "sane-frontends" has been
produced since 2005 (1.0.14). They still point to Gimp as a major driver
for the project...

Not sure how to deal with "xsane" as it seems to have a hard dependency
on "graphics/gimp" (2.x<2.99) (by way of gimp's "bl3" file).

"xsane.org" takes me to a German Ubuntu Users wiki...
