The expat library was previously in the X sets, but it moved to the base set.
Do you have /usr/lib/libexpat*? And not /usr/X11R7/lib/libexpat*?

Anyway, I haven't seen this problem and the bulk builds are fine too,
so you'll have to debug your system.
