browser, pkgin and pkg_add issues

amd64-9.2

My firefox stopped working the other day, with different errors for
different users. So I tried to get the latest version with pkgin
install. This failed, and now anny attempt to pkgin or pkg_add
results in a failure likeL

pkg_info: cannot read meta data file +CONTENTS of package
glib2-2.76.5: No such file or directory
pkgin: Cannot read +CONTENTS of package glib2-2.76.5

Presumably this means my packages database is corrupted or
inaccessible. How can I recover from this?

Also, do people have recommendations for a browser I cazn actually
depend on for NetBSD? I need a browser I can fire up from within
other code, that has configurable cookie acceptance settings, but most
of all doesn't need constant intensive care. I used to use lynx for
the purpose but ran into compatibility problems with the target site.
