While, from an user perspective, the order of chapters isn't too helpful for the simple task of just installing some random binary package, I just realized that it would be helpful to have an additional symlink in the individual machine directories, as the above command would not produce a proper URL. I learned that when, for automated VAX installations it broke from 9.3 -> 10.0, because we're not with quarterly snapshots. That alone could be done with $(date) as well, but looking at http://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/pkgsrc/packages/NetBSD/mvmeppc/new-10.0_2022Q4/All/, there's also a 'new-' in the path...
