ERROR: object format ``Mach-O'' which differs from ``ELF''.

Just did a cvs update of my local pkgsrc tree.  Now pkg_chk comes back 
with a strange error:

ERROR: [depends.mk] Installed package mktools-20220614 has an
ERROR:     object format ``Mach-O'' which differs from ``ELF''. Please
ERROR:     update the mktools-20220614 package to ELF.

Why would the cvs update change the installed (from source) format of 
the files?  Any help welcome. I did the update again to see if that 
would clear it but no dice.
