building "libsoup" on 10.0_BETA fails

Building libsoup on 10.0_BETA on amd64 fails for me with:

/src/work/pkgsrc/net/libsoup/work.x86_64/.buildlink/include/unicode/utf16.h:1:1: 
error: C++ style comments are not allowed in ISO C90
    1 | // © 2016 and later: Unicode, Inc. and others.
      | ^


anyone else seeing this?  fix?
