Just to see what would happen, I moved "libstdc++.so.7*" aside so as
to eliminate the possibility of linking with it and again am rebuilding
packages that listed a "REQUIRES=/usr/lib/libstdc++.so.7".

Attempting to build "devel/snappy" fails, complaining about a raft of
undefined references to things which look like they should be in
"libstdc++".
