misc/screen, curses (not ncurses), and 256 colors

I am trying to use more binary packages and just found that default
screen, compiled with netbsd-curses, does not seem to support 256
terminal support.

Is this expected?  I ran a make replace after setting the ncurses
option and it all magically worked.

If netbsd curses doesn't support 256 colors I'm not sure it should be used much.
