To answer this seemingly unanswered problem:

    olvwm: fatal error -- can't open glyph font

I did the following:

  - add the pkg font directory to the font path (needed)

  - installed font-sun-misc (can't hurt)

  - tweaked images.c to #include something like mem.h (needed on 64-bit)

The code seems to want some TLC, sigh.
