pkgsrc-2015Q4 binary packages for illumos now available

Hi all,

I'm pleased to announce that the pkgsrc-2015Q4 binary package sets for
illumos are now available, with over 14,800 packages available.  This
is a new LTS release, and will receive security and important fixes
for the next 3 years.

As always you can install them using the instructions here:

  https://pkgsrc.joyent.com/install-on-illumos/

SmartOS users can use the 15.4.0 image sets which will be available
within the next few days.

Major changes in this quarterly release are:

  * Many package additions, including PHP 7.0 and Python 3.5.

  * The default compiler is now GCC 4.9.3.  All of our GCC 4.7 patches
    have been ported forward, including multiarch support, disabling
    of -fomit-frame-pointer, support for -fstrict-calling-conventions,
    TLS emulation fixes, and the disabling of fixincludes.

  * clang-3.7.0 is provided as an alternative compiler, with patches
    to fix the default illumos environment, allowing over 12,000
    packages to build from pkgsrc using clang.

  * All packages are now built with "-gdwarf-2" and the core bootstrap
    packages are no longer stripped, ensuring software can be debugged
    correctly.
