I finally managed to get a recent current installed in my pkg_comp
(7.99.5/amd64, sources checked out on Feb. 18th) and xine-lib now
builds without errors, so it looks like the problem was in my base
system and not in the package. Sorry for the noise and thank you for
the helpful response, which saved me a bunch of futile debugging time.
