That's a fair question, but OS X is messy about "pre-installed" for
things like Java.  Basically, the oracle jdk is the standard approach
and people are likely to have installed it, and once that happens, it's
kind of like an optional OS component.

Have you been using a jdk built/installed from pkgsrc on OSX?  Does that
actually work?  If so, it seems fine to switch to that.  But these
patches seem entirely separate from this issue.
