Tutorial for CUPS?
Does anyone have a real simple "cook-book" for getting CUPS up and
running?
I've installed cups-1.5 from pkgsrc (this is the version required by
the misc/libreoffice4 package), and I've also installed the foomatic-*
packages. I've started cupsd(8) (manually, since there does not seem to
be a rc.d/cupsd file provided in the package).
I've got only one printer, an HP 6940 on my local ethernet, and it has
been running (in B&W mode only!) using print/magicfilter with a simple
entry in my /etc/printcap file:
# HP DeskJet 6940 on network
lp:\
:lp=9100@printer:\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:\
:lf=/var/spool/lpd/lp/log:\
:if=/usr/pkg/libexec/magicfilter/DeskJet_6940-filter:\
:sh:\
:mx#0:
What, if anything, do I need to do to make this work under CUPS?
Thanks in advance!
