kmail does not start if LANG is set *.UTF-8

Hi,

I've found a problem I think with kmail from kdepim4 pkgsrc-2013Q2.

I normally have the following in my .profile:
if test $DISPLAY; then
export LANG=en_AU.UTF-8
export LC_CTYPE=${LANG}
fi

Hovever since upgrading to kde4 and NetBSD 6.1-1 it does not work with kmail.

when running kmail from konsole in kde 4 it just freezes nothing with nothing 
written on screen.

If I unset and export LANG or LANG is not set in my profile then it works.

Has anyone else experienced this?/know of any workarounds?
