font troubles lately?

Hello,

On NetBSD/amd64 6, using pkgsrc HEAD. meta-pkgs/modular-xorg is
installed.

The past month or so, I've noticed that installing fonts from pkgsrc
results in an error message about opendir() not being successful.

I also noticed that xfontsel shows very few fonts (-*-*-*...) matches
only 4 names.

In my .Xdefaults, for years, I have had:

XTerm*font: *-fixed-*-*-*-10-*
XTerm*boldFont: *-fixed-*-*-*-10-*
XTerm*geometry: 132x64
XTerm*internalBorder: 0
XTerm*background: black
XTerm*foreground: white

   ..but this now results in:

gauss$ xterm
Warning: Cannot convert string "*-fixed-*-*-*-10-*" to type FontStruct
xterm: cannot load font '*-fixed-*-*-*-10-*'
xterm: cannot load font '*-fixed-*-*-*-10-*'

("fixed" size 13 works, and appears to be some kind of default).

gvim's "Select Font.." is able to find lots of fonts, including what
looks like the missing "fixed" size 10.

Why won't fixed 10 work in xterm any longer? Why are so few fonts
showing up in xfontsel? Is it likely related to the opendir() error?

   What am I missing?

Kind regards,
Jan Danielsson
