which Linux distro used/tested by the pkgsrc team ?

hi    
i did try pkgsrc on Linux ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS , and i found it useless for
me , because most of the time i face build failure :( - i followed  the 
pkgsrc guide carefully -

what's wrong ? 

should i pick the distro that the team use ?? or it's ok to stick to 
ubuntu ?
