It does indeed work for me, and I modified
/usr/X11R7/lib/X11/locale/en_US.UTF-8/XI18N_OBJS even though my locale
is de_DE.UTF-8 (and it still worked). (There is no
/usr/X11R7/lib/X11/locale/de_DE.UTF-8 directory.)
