Variables available to install scripts

Hi!

I'm wondering what variables can be used in INSTALL / DEINSTALL scripts.

Ideally, I'd like to use some equivalent of ${PLIST.something}, or failing
that fail back to ${MACHINE_ARCH}.

It seems there's nothing remotely approaching the makefile helpers.

Do I have to write all environment tests I need from scratch with shell
commands or is there another way out ?

I already have the PLIST.xxx variable I need in the main Makefile...
