Maybe try switching your window manager from window maker to
something else. If it doesn't help, then maybe it's something to do
with X11 display drivers, to check this, try running remote X11 firefox
client on this machine, i.e. enable ssh X11 forwarding
in /etc/ssh/ssd_config, restart sshd, then login via ssh from another
machine and run firefox, eg.

ssh -X my_machine
firefox
