HELP with jre-6u12

Can someone give me a clue as to what embarassingly stupid thing I'm doing or 
not doing?
I've installed this on two other systems running the same base OS

NetBSD bigbox 3.1.1_PATCH NetBSD 3.1.1_PATCH (BIGBOX) #8: Tue Apr 14 15:59:32 
PDT 2009  root@bigbox:/usr/src/sys/arch/i386/compile/BIGBOX i386

Packages from pkgsrc-2009Q1

Trying to install/update from the jre directory produces the same results.
