screen-blanking and horizontal red streaks with a DVI KVM...



This will sound off-topic but I don't think it is.

I have two computers -- a Dell Dimension 8400 and a Mac Mini --
connected via a KVM switch to a Dell 1600x1200 monitor and a USB
keyboard and mouse.  When I'm using the Dell under -current with xorg,
I frequently (but not always) see transient flashing red streaks.
Worse, the screen frequently blanks, but will usually (but not always)
come back if I hit a key.  Oddly enough, whether or not it blanks seems
to be related to what's showing in the window -- if I'm running
pkgsrc/games/xconq, it happens quite frequently.  

If I boot Windows XP, it can't cope at all; it blanks every few
seconds, regardless of what's showing.

On the other hand, the Mac (running Leopard) has *0* problems; the
display is perfect, there are no streaks, it doesn't blank, etc.  This
suggests to me that there's a software issue that is perhaps fixable or
able to be configured around.

The KVM switch -- a Belkin Flip -- is spec'd for 2560x1600, far more
pixels than I have.  Perhaps significantly, the Xorg.0.log file says
something about the maximum desktop being set to 2560x1200.  (I use kvm
with four desktops.)  I've attached the log file, if that helps.
Anything I can or should try?
