can't get php5-gettext working

Hi,

according to various php applications (gallery, ...) I'm running, my php
installation has no gettext configured. But I have installed php5-gettext:
 lighttpd-1.4.11nb1  Fast, light-footprint HTTP server
 php-5.2.0           PHP Hypertext Preprocessor version 5
 php5-eaccelerator-5.2.0.0.9.5 PHP accelerator, optimizer, encoder and
dynamic    content cache
 php5-mysql-5.2.0    PHP extension for MySQL databases
 php5-gd-5.2.0       PHP extension for GD graphics library
 php5-gettext-5.2.0  PHP extension for gettext support

And configured it:
