Hi,

I have a system that is still running 1.5.4. Because of the way I am
booting the system there is no way for me to put in a new kernel while in
the colo. I really need to build some new packages, but sometime in 2005
the new pkgsrc stopped working. This is what I get when I try to build a
package:

{13} make
make: Unknown modifier 'u'

"../../mk/bsd.prefs.mk", line 500: warning: Couldn't read shell's output
for "cd /usr/pkgsrc/pkgtools/pkg_install/../.. && "
"../../mk/bsd.prefs.mk", line 520: warning: Couldn't read shell's output
for "cd /usr/pkgsrc/pkgtools/pkg_install && "
"../../mk/bsd.prefs.mk", line 554: Could not find
/mk/wrapper/wrapper-defs.mk
"../../mk/bsd.prefs.mk", line 557: Could not find
/mk/flavor/bsd.flavor-vars.mk
"../../mk/bsd.prefs.mk", line 560: Could not find /mk/bsd.makevars.mk
-F: not found
"Makefile", line 73: warning: " -F '"' '/PKGTOOLS_VERSION/ {print $2}'
/usr/pkgsrc/pkgtools/pkg_install/files/lib/version.h" returned non-zero
status

I would think that this is a known problem. I have googled and googled,
but I can't seem to find anything that would tell me how to fix this.
Could someone give me some ideas?

Thanks,
Al
