'make rebuild'?

There doesn't seem to be a 'make rebuild' target.  It would be nice to
have one, especially when testing source changes (which will feed into
patches) necessary to make some protopackage work.

Alternatively, what . files do I need to delete in the 'work' directory to
make it DTRT?
