I recently built x11/gdm from pkgsrc-current on several NetBSD/i386-curren=
t=0D
(3.99.16) systems. While the local login worked fine, remote connections, =
either=0D
by direct query or by indirect (chooser) did not work. The chooser claimed=
there=0D
were no serving hosts.=0D
=0D
Some poking around ultimately showed that, although properly configured, gd=
m=0D
was not listening on IPv4 port 177, but only on IPv6 port 177. Looking bac=
k in the=0D
build-time options, The supported options are "inet6 pam" and inet6 was sel=
ected by=0D
default. When I built it with PKG_OPTIONS.gdm=3D-inet6, IPv4 operation was=
=0D
restored.=0D
=0D
Has anyone else seen anything like this with gdm and NetBSD/i386?=0D
=0D
=0D
I also built gdm on MacOS X 10.4.5 at the same time. with the default ine6=
option,=0D
it correctly listens on 177 for both IPv4 and IPv6.=0D
=0D
On MacOS X, it can listen for connections from remote displays, but all log=
ins fail=0D
with the claim that the user or password is incorrect. I need to verify th=
at the stock=0D
xdm with MacOS X's X11 still works, though. It did the last time I tried i=
t.=0D
=0D
Thanks=0D
