Because IMHO it's better suited for being packaged in pkgsrc especially
for pkgsrc-stable: it is maintained for 6 months (latest releases gets
updated every 6 weeks) and if there are security or critical bugfixes
is easier and less risky to upgrade it and ask for a pullup without
possible regressions due new bleeding features (there are also some
warnings regarding that in the upstream LTS page at
<https://prometheus.io/docs/introduction/release-cycle/>).
