hm it doesn't do that here..  (system current-ish, though the pkgsrc/mk is
from 2011Q4)

the lib/Makefile is provided by patches/patch-lib_Makefile and uses
LIBISPRIVATE=yes .. Should also be using BSD make, what is in the bulk
build share/mk files?
