My log entry was a little imprecise, specifically the Makefile has:
GDB_SUBPREFIX=3D gdb6
GDB_PREFIX=3D ${PREFIX}/${GDB_SUBPREFIX}
CONFIGURE_ARGS+=3D --libdir=3D${GDB_PREFIX}/lib
CONFIGURE_ARGS+=3D --includedir=3D${GDB_PREFIX}/include
Is that OK? It's not quite the same.
