   Thomas> Why is this necessaty?

Because the size of Mozilla source code is so large (for me
at least, my connection is 128k ISDN). I can download the
distribution tarball from my nearest site instead of from
the main sites directly if this framework exists.

Thomas> How many packages will use MASTER_SITE_MOZILLA?

I don't understand here. Please explain?

i to will set MASTER_SITE_MOZILLA now; there is a local mirror
in australia that can max my DSL link, where as US and beyond
are lucky to get half of it. it also costs a lot less in
bandwidth charges due to being local. thanks!
