Martti,

Reasons for putting information from the URL into the commit log:

+ Because the URL is not under our control, and may move and change
over time.

+ Because by putting a short summary of the things that have changed
between the old and new versions into the commit log, people using
cvs at a later date will know when things happened without having
to resort to browsers and playing hunt-the-thimble with twisty
little URL links.

+ Because by putting a short summary of the things that have changed
between the old and new versions into the commit log, people who
read the pkgsrc-changes mailing list will know whether they have
to update (a) yesterday, (b) ASAP or (c) when hell freezes over.

+ If there is a subsequent security advisory about samba, it would
be nice to be able to/it's absolutely imperative that we can find
out from our own commit logs when we were vulnerable.

Please always put a concise, appropriate and relevant summary of the
changes between old and new versions into the commit log when updating
a package.

Thanks,
Alistair
