I just wanted to get this to work again after the libtool upgrade.  I
recognize that it's not good to depend on the libtool internals, but I
wasn't sure what the optimal fix was.  Can you suggest a better way to
fix this, as well as for x11/xforms?  For mail/imap-uw, perhaps we
should create a way for libtool to generate *_pic.a libraries?
