It seems that this line was explicitly removed from
glib2/Makefile.common in the most recent update:

  CONFIGURE_ARGS.gnu-iconv+=      --with-libiconv=gnu

which causes the failure seen above.  Is there a particular reason for
doing this, perhaps one of the packages which shares Makefile.common
doesn't like it?
