We don't have (as far as I've seen) a 4.0 amd64 build though.

Probably, yes.

Joerg and I have been working on fixing broken packages, and to do
that effectively there need to be builds of pkgsrc head. Otherwise the
three months of lag time is a bit too much. (Unless I guess we request
pullups for every fix, but that's also somewhat problematic.)
