   | I think this was fixed in usr.bin/ftp/fetch.c rev 1.165.
   | What does "ident /usr/bin/ftp | grep fetch" say?

Yes, that is probably it, I am running a much older version of current
than 4. anything (though not as old as 3.*).

      $NetBSD: fetch.c,v 1.164 2005/08/21 16:16:33 lukem Exp $

is what I get, so if 1.165 fixed the problem, I won't have that fix.

   | As this change hasn't been pulled up to netbsd-3 I guess we could add
   | offload1.icculus.org as an alternate MASTER_SITE.

Yes ... or just make sure the distfile is on ftp.netbsd.org (is it also perhaps
still using an older ftp client program?) That would also work OK.

NetBSD 3 is still supposed to be supported, and the last release there
is 3.1, which isn't going to get that fix even if it were pulled up,
so something should be done to fix this (even though the workaround is
 trivial.)

If the redirect is not in fact just temporary, then changing the master
site would perhaps make sense - there's no point going somewhere just to
be redirected elsewhere, when we know where we're going to be sent.
Of course, that's useful only if the redirect is fairly stable, and not
something that changes week by week.
