 My Makefile was version 1.52... I cvs-updated with -rpkgsrc-2006Q3,
 where fontconfig/Makefile is version 1.57, and it rebuilt ok. (doh!)
 
 I was under the mistaken impression that I had been cvs-updating to
 current, not whatever version it actually was.  (Is there an easy way
 to determine?)  I think I have 1 or 2 other PRs that might have
 the same problem.
