 FTR, and since the issue came up before in
 http://mail-index.netbsd.org/netbsd-users/2006/05/10/0001.html
 ff. - when Evolution comes up, it only has the red-cross Ersatz icons.
 
 I found that gnome-settings-daemon wouldn't start because of the 
 missing dbus server. That's under KDE - within Gnome, 
 gnome-settings-daemon comes up, and Evolution gets its propper icons.
