Latest CVS versions of emacs significantly improved smtpmail.el.
Now it support SMTP authentication using smtpmail-auth-credentials
variable. I think it is extremely useful feature, especially for
users of free mail boxes. Months ago I updated smtpmail.el and it works
just fine, at least it allows me to send-pr ;-) without
configuring NetBSD MTA. Below is the patch
