The etherape pkg builds, but exits on startup. There's some kind of
GUI startup exception handler that offers no detail on the problem,
and asks if you want to restart the application, which just gets back
to the same place.

On the terminal is left the following message, which is probably much
more of a useful clue:

_res is not supported for multi-threaded programs.
