sort /etc/services | uniq -c | egrep -c ' 1 '

is the easiest way
:-)

Just out of curiosity I spent 1h to find that I had to run services_mkdb

It is not yet mentioned in the man page  for (5) services that this has 
changes  and WILL probably confuse more people.
