Thank you. I guess I should have tried harder to get this question
answered before trying out the card ...

... The card is a HighPoint Rocket Raid type. I would need to go back
and look at the board to see the model, version etc. but I'm pretty sure
its this one...

I guess I wrongly assumed that, since the driver was seeing the card as
2 ata busses, it would work just fine; and the RAID component of the
card would be `not configured'.
