I could not view your details, as the NetBSD page seemed to be down.
So I am not sure what was in your /usr/pkg/etc/esd.conf file, but
-tcp -public is needed under either spawn_options, or default_options.
If not using -public, then the ~/.esd_auth file needs to be copied to
both machines. I always modify the code to use native NetBSD audio, but
I don't think this should make a difference.
