I've been asked to build a file server for some ( less than 30 )
Windows machines. I'm going to setup Samba on NetBSD 3.0. My concern
is performance, in the way of multiple users accessing to the same
files. So my question is what hardware would give me the best
performance boost?

Currently I'm leaning toward the following.

Processor: Intel Xeon 2.8 - 3.4GHz 800MHz 2MB L2 cache Xeon Processor
Memory: 2 GB PC2-3200 ECC DDR2 RDIMM
Controller: Dual-Channel Ultra320 SCSI Controller ( not sure about
raid at this point )
Ethernet: Gigabit Ethernet
Disk: (2) 146GB 15K U320 SCSI

thanks
