Someone may tell you otherwise, but I found it easier to install the whole
XFree86-4.4.0. Once I did that gtk2 went on fairly easily. I've forgotten
mostly, but I seem to recall that the NetBSD install of Xbase and Xcomp was
missing two libraries/headers under /usr/X11R6 (libXrender and one other).
