Well, i tried ping-ing from a different box but i'm using the freebsd 
box as a router to the netbsd box so this makes no sense at all.
I'll try a different nic in the freebsd box and i could attach my laptop 
to the netbsd box directly. Results will be mailed as soon as possible.

This is what i expected but i wasn't sure about that. :)

The raid setup is located only on the ide disks whereas the scsi disk 
just holds the system.
(4 Western Digital WD2000JB on two Promise Ultra 100 TX2 Controller - 
pretty simple setup)
