I'm on X.31 with basically identical audio hardware and it sorta-works,
sometimes.

I'm finding with any app which touches audio, other apps cannot
touch audio safely. For instance, GAIM works fine, but then an OSS
emulation binding by kphone is borked.

Interestingly, the kphone emulation is borked in other ways too, to do with
re-opening of open FDs and how that E<msg> reports back in the ioctl.

I find it very hard to understand which of mixerctl/audioctl/sysctl to use
to try and force the frobs on the audio system.
