   Thanks.  The result was "unexpected end of file" for base.tgz,
comp.tgz and xfont.tgz.  The remainder of the files were alright.
Mozilla did report 100% download in each case (and <shift-left
mouse> was used in each case).  I'll replace the truncated files
(which also showed fewer bytes than indicated on the Minnesota ftp
archive) by way of the old command line ftp -v and try sysinst again.
Then I'll follow the rest of your advice.  ...will report back but
only if after success or reading much documentation.
